HP plans to offer refurbished laptops in India in order to empower students
By MYBRANDBOOK
HP plans to launch a programme run by an HP certified partner in India that will allow them to sell certified refurbished laptops. Students will receive laptops as a means of empowerment. With intentions to spread it to other markets in the future, this is the first time such an initiative has been introduced in India. HP will use a subscription model to sell refurbished computers.
The retail customers and small and medium businesses can now have access to PCs with the latest hardware for a period of 6, 12, or 24 months, which also includes warranty and comprehensive post-sales support. These devices will be sourced from enterprises and retail customers, and will then be refurbished as the company’s standard.
Gurpreet Singh Brar, Vice President, HP India market, said, “Recognizing the limited PC adoption in rural and smaller towns, we aim to transform this landscape. Our new initiative is a significant step in our ongoing mission to bring affordable technology to everyone. It’s a game-changer for those facing financial constraints, opening doors to PC usage. Students gain educational resources, small enterprises enhance productivity, and startups find a cost-effective tech solution, all contributing to a more digitally inclusive society. This program underlines our dedication to serving the needs of a growing market, particularly in regions where access to PCs has been a challenge.”
The company reaffirms that every refurbished HP laptop will undergo a rigorous refurbishment process, which includes storage expansions, and these devices will be thoroughly inspected for optimal performance and reliability to ensure stringent quality benchmarks.
