Google is ready to buy smartphone maker HTC

In a recent news on Google to buy smartphone business of HTC, struggling from a long time to maintain revenues, and the devices haven’t exactly been a hit. In fact with the rise of Chinese players like Oppo, Vivo, Huawei and Xiaomi etc.According  to a report by the Chinese publication Commercial Times, Google is considering two options to seal the deal with HTC that is reportedly building Google's "Pixel 2" line of smartphones.

The Google acquisition is being cited given the close relationship between the two companies. HTC is strategic partner of Google by manufacturing the Google Pixel smartphone and the original Nexus phone was also a HTC device. Google is reportedly planning to "either become a strategic partner, or outright buy the entire smartphone unit".
However, HTC's virtual reality business (HTC Vive) would not be part of the deal.

If the deal materialises, it would be second such acquisition after Google's $12.5 billion buyout of Motorola in 2012.Later on Google has sold it off to Lenovo  for $2.91 billion in 2014. In July, HTC unveiled its premium flagship smartphone HTC U11 with edge sensors at a price of Rs 51,990 which is said to have the highest-rated smartphone camera in the world. It is unclear on why Google want to do HTC acquisition. However, it is really unclear what the search giant is going to get from this deal.
