Renal dialysis equipment market in India to reach US$225m in 2025
By MYBRANDBOOK
The renal dialysis equipment market in India is expected to reach US$225m in 2025. Dialysis accessories (such as blood tubing sets and dialyzers) and dialysis machines (hemodialysis machines and peritoneal dialysis equipment) account for more than 85% of the Indian renal dialysis equipment market, says GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
The company’s report, ‘India Nephrology and Urology Devices Market Outlook to 2025 – Renal Dialysis Equipment’, reveals that Fresenius Medical is the leader in the Indian renal dialysis equipment market followed by companies such as Nipro Corp, Asahi Kasei Corp, Baxter International, B.Braun Melsungen and Toray Medical. These companies together account for more than 85% of the renal dialysis equipment market in India.
Obesity, high prevalence of diabetes, hypertension and vascular diseases are leading to growth in the population suffering from renal diseases. Factors such as frequent need for dialysis (three sessions per week on an average) and growing adoption of advanced technologies by healthcare facilities are expected to drive the renal dialysis equipment market growth in India.
Bhaskar Vittal, Medical Devices Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “The availability of very few number of transplant donors and difficulty in getting matching donors are driving patients suffering from renal diseases to continue to opt for dialysis. There has been a significant expansion in the number of standalone dialysis centers as well as hospitals providing dialysis in the past few years. This has led to the easy availability of dialysis for patients suffering from renal diseases.
“While most of the outpatient healthcare facilities have been suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic, a good number of healthcare facilities are still offering dialysis as it is a necessity for patients suffering from renal failure. This is expected to lead to continued demand for renal dialysis equipment.”
