Vodafone 5G network to reach 50 plus cities
By MYBRANDBOOK
Vodafone has launched 5G in five European markets, with services available in Spain, Italy and Romania since June, and the UK and Germany since July. Vodafone’s 5G services are available in 15 cities in Spain on 15 June 2019.
Vodafone Group has posted 2.3 percent dip in revenue to €10.653 billion in the June quarter of 2019 though it has started 5G launches in June, whereas, Vodafone has generated revenue of €7.792 billion (–2.1) from Europe and the balance €2.547 billion from the Rest of the World and it’s service revenue fell 0.2 percent to €8.994 billion.
Vodafone has generated revenue of €2.572 billion from Germany, €1.330 billion from Italy, €1.569 billion from UK, €1.082 billion from Spain and €1.270 billion from Other Europe in the June quarter. Vodacom, Vodafone’s African telecom business, has reported €1.078 billion (+1.1 percent) revenue in the quarter.
Vodafone CEO Nick Read said: “Our service revenue growth improved during the first quarter, led by Italy, and mobile churn fell to another record low. We expect the gradual recovery in our service revenues to continue.” The release says, with 5G, working abroad has also never been easier. 5G brings WiFi-like speeds, without the need to rely on hotel connections or public WiFi to keep in touch with the office.
Vodafone said, they are targeting a net reduction in operating expenses in Europe and Common Functions of at least €1.2 billion by FY21 compared to FY18. This includes €400 million of savings in FY20, matching its achievement in FY19.
Vodafone 5G roaming is live in 55 towns and cities across four countries – Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK – just in time for the summer getaway. Unlike with other networks, customers don’t pay extra to use 5G with Vodafone’s pay monthly plans and further the service will be available in nine other European markets by the end of the current financial year.
