WhatsApp is testing a new “Liquid Glass” design in its iOS beta, introducing translucent UI elements and a redesigned floating chat interface. Users began reporting subtle UI changes, including redesigned elements within the main chat screen. The interface now introduces semi-transparent elements that create a sense of depth, particularly visible in the floating tab bar. Buttons and interactive components have also been redesigned with a soft, frosted-glass appearance and more fluid animations. The keyboard and context menus continue to follow similar visual principles.
WABetaInfo claims that the Liquid Glass design is being rolled out gradually, with WhatsApp closely monitoring performance and user experience before expanding availability. The company is also testing additional refinements to further enhance the look and feel of this new design language.
Following the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 26, it has been observed that WhatsApp is working on extending the Liquid Glass design to the chat interface.
With the new design refresh, WhatsApp will continue to place the chat bar at the bottom of the screen, but it will now appear as a floating element. Its background will feature a translucent, glass-like material. Shortcuts, such as jumping to the latest messages within a conversation, will also be updated to align with the Liquid Glass design. As a result, the bottom section of the chat interface will fully reflect this new visual language.
