Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez briefly detained at Mumbai Airport

Jacqueline Fernandez was briefly detained at the Mumbai International airport in connection with the Rs 200-crore extortion case involving conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. She was detained based on a look-out circular issued to her by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), while she was going out of the country for a show on Sunday evening.

The actor, who is being investigated by the ED, was completing the process to board a flight for a foreign country, when the officials stopped her and informed her about the look-out circular, sources aware about the development said. The airport officials informed the officials of the Enforcement Directorate about the detention of Jacqueline Fernandez.

A look-out circular is issued against a suspect or accused by law enforcement agencies or investigators owing to which they are not allowed to leave the country by air, road or water ways.

Jacqueline would be questioned soon in Delhi. Earlier, her statement was recorded at least twice by the ED.

In a recent chargesheet filed against Sukesh Chandrasekhar, Jacqueline Fernandez's involvement was mentioned by ED with the conman. The chargesheet revealed that Sukesh sent expensive gifts worth over Rs 10 crore to actor Jacqueline Fernandez. The expensive gift items include jewellery, diamond-studded jewellery sets, crockery, four Persian cats (the cost of one cat is around Rs 9 lakh) and a horse worth Rs 52 lakh.

The central probe agency in its first chargesheet named Sukesh Chandrasekhar as the main accused in the Rs 200 crore extortion case. Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi is also mentioned in the chargesheet.

As per the chargesheet, Sukesh and Jacqueline have been talking to each other since January 2021. Sukesh used to speak to Jacqueline over his mobile phone even while he was in jail.

When Sukesh came out on bail, he booked a chartered flight to Chennai. He also booked a chartered flight for Jacqueline Fernandez from Mumbai to Delhi. Both Sukesh and Jacqueline stayed at a hotel in Chennai.

Sukesh allegedly spent around Rs 8 crore for his air travel in private jets when he was on bail. He also sent money to Jacqueline Fernandez's siblings.
