Elon Musk's internet service to reach your home through satellite
By MYBRANDBOOK
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has a space exploration company by the name SpaceX. Starlink is SpaceX’s satellite-based internet service will be provided directly through satellites that SpaceX will launch in the orbit. Elon Musk’s disclosed on Thursday that its Starlink satellite internet service now has “over 10,000 users in the United States and abroad. SpaceX began a public beta program of Starlink in October, with service priced at $99 a month, in addition to a $499 upfront cost to order the Starlink Kit, which includes a user terminal and Wi-Fi router to connect to the satellites.
It will build an interconnected internet network with thousands of satellites, known in the space industry as a constellation, designed to deliver high-speed internet to consumers anywhere on the planet. We tried for several areas in Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida and got the message, “Starlink is targeting coverage in your area in 2022.
Beta testing and preorders have already begun for Starlink. Unfortunately, these are limited to people based on geolocality and on a first-come-first-serve basis. Customers have been told to expect download speeds from 210 Mbps to 10 Gbps. SpaceX has already been awarded an $856 million grant from the US government to help bring broadband access to rural America.
As per the report, SpaceX has launched more than 1,000 Starlink satellites. While this is a massive achievement, for this satellite internet constellation to be fully operational, it will require a total of 12,000 satellites. At the moment, Starlink is manufacturing 120 satellites per month.
