R M Agarwal has appointed as the CMD, ITI

In a recently held meeting in search –cum-Selection Committee held on 29th march 2019, the search - cum Selection Committee recommended Mr. Rakesh Mohan Agarwal, Director(Marketing ) ITI Ltd. to appoint for the post of Chairman and managing Director,it will come to effect from 1st April 2019. This appointment comes after the committee has interviewed 10 candidates from the same field. Mr. Agarwal has served in various positions in ITI, such as HR and Marketing since August 02, 2018.
Mr. Agarwal is an Indian Telecommunication Services(ITS) officer of the 1986 batch. Mr. Agarwal holds a Postgraduate Degree in Electronics & Communication and MBA degree with Finance specialization. Mr. Agarwal has a rich experience of more than 30 years in policy formulation, standardization planning, operation & maintenance of telecom networks in different organisations of Department of Telecommunication.
Mr. Agarwal worked as DDG(NT), DoT and was involved in policy formulation for adoption and implementation of new technologies viz.IPv6, M2M and Cloud computing by Indian telecom & IT industry. Mr. Agarwal brought out the ‘National IPv6 Deployment Roadmap v2’ in March, 2013 and Compendium on IPv6 Based Solutions/ Architecture/ Case Studies for time bound IPv6 implementation by all stakeholders in the country.
Mr. Agarwal also designated as the central coordinating officer from the DoT, GOI, to coordinate with Government and Industry for IPV6 migration in the country. He has also been nominated as the Convenor of India IPV6 task Force for implementation of IPV6 in India including pilot projects across various sectors. He was also responsible for bringing for bringing out the IPV6 policy document “national IPV6 Deployment Roadmap” for India in July 2010.
ITI is the India’s first Public Sector Unit (PSU), established as a departmental factory in 1948. In 1950, ITI was incorporated as a Private Limited company. Ever since, it has contributed significantly to the country’s national telecom network. With manufacturing facilities spread across five locations and a countrywide network of marketing/service outlets, the company offers a range of telecom products and total solutions covering the spectrum of Switching, Transmission, Access and Subscriber Premises equipment.
The Company has achieved Sales of Rs.1703 Crore during the year 2017-18 against Rs.1611 Crore during the previous year 2016-17. This is remarkably the highest turnover in the past seven years. The Financial Year 2017-18 has been a breakthrough year for ITI and it is a year of turn around for ITI, making profit without grants after a long gap of 16 years. Secure communications are the company's forte networks for India's Defence forces. Extensive in-house R&D work is devoted towards design and development of encryption solutions to Indian Defence forces.
