Ashneer Grover praises Uday Kotak amid legal battle

Ashneer Grover has showered praises on billionaire banker Uday Kotak at a time when the BharatPe Co-Founder is locked in a legal fight with Kotak Mahindra Bank.
Grover said in a comment “Uday Kotak is a legend. I had the fortune of starting my career in Kotak — seven years — and can tell you no one understands or does finance better in India!” Grover is on a voluntary leave of absence until the end of March, as is his wife Madhuri Jain.
The comment comes weeks after it emerged that Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain sent a legal notice to Kotak Mahindra Bank last year, for failing to secure financing for Nykaa’s initial public offering (IPO).
An audio clip of the conversation between Grover and Kotak Mahindra Bank’s employee had surfaced just days earlier where Grover allegedly used inappropriate language against the employee. Kotak Mahindra Bank’s wealth management unit had said it would take “appropriate legal action” against Grover’s use of abusive language and threats.
BharatPe serves over 75 lakh merchants across 150 cities, and has already facilitated the disbursement of loans totalling over Rs 3,000 crore to its merchants since its launch.
