PM Modi tops global leaders with 30 million YouTube subscribers
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has surpassed 30 million subscribers on YouTube, becoming the most-followed world leader on the video-sharing platform. The milestone further highlights the Prime Minister’s strong digital presence and his ability to connect with audiences across social media platforms.
Publicly available data shows that Modi’s YouTube subscriber base is significantly larger than that of other global political leaders. Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who ranks second among world leaders on the platform, has roughly a quarter of Modi’s subscriber count. Meanwhile, the subscriber base of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, is also considerably lower, with Modi having more than seven times the number of subscribers.
Within India, Modi’s YouTube following also stands well ahead of other political figures. His subscriber count is nearly three times that of Rahul Gandhi, a senior leader of the Indian National Congress. It is also more than four times the subscriber base of the official YouTube channels of both the Congress party and the Aam Aadmi Party.
Strong Digital Presence across Platforms
The latest YouTube milestone comes shortly after Modi achieved another significant social media benchmark on Instagram, where he crossed 100 million followers. With this achievement, he became the first world leader and politician to reach the 100-million mark on the platform.
Modi joined Instagram in 2014 and has steadily expanded his digital reach since then. His follower count on the platform is more than double that of US President Donald Trump, who has around 43 million followers.
Other global leaders also maintain strong followings on Instagram. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has around 15 million followers, while Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has about 14.4 million. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Argentine President Javier Milei also feature among prominent political figures on the platform with millions of followers.
Indian Political Leaders on Instagram
Among Indian political leaders, Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, ranks second on Instagram with around 16 million followers. Rahul Gandhi follows with approximately 12.6 million followers.
The growing digital footprint of political leaders reflects the increasing role of social media platforms in public communication, allowing leaders to share updates, policy messages, and personal moments directly with citizens worldwide.
