ITC Builds the Future with Autodesk

ITC has set a new benchmark for digital construction in India through its Green Center Phase II Building 3 project. Guided by its philosophy of “Putting India First,” the company has embraced advanced digital technologies to improve efficiency, accountability, sustainability, and project predictability. The project demonstrates how digital transformation can reshape the construction industry by integrating data-driven decision-making, automation, and collaborative workflows.

At the heart of this transformation was the adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). By implementing a fully digital and paperless project environment, ITC created a unified ecosystem where all stakeholders could work from a single source of truth. This significantly improved collaboration, reduced errors, accelerated decision-making, and enhanced project visibility. To further strengthen governance and compliance, ITC deployed a Common Data Environment (CDE), ensuring traceability, accountability, and alignment with ISO 19650 standards.

A major milestone achieved through this initiative was the prestigious Project Kitemark Certification for ISO 19650. ITC became the first organization in India and only the fourth globally to earn this recognition, underscoring its commitment to global best practices in digital construction and information management.

One of the key drivers of success was the implementation of Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD), which standardized project processes across all phases. Structured workflows enabled better coordination among teams, while automated approvals and centralized documentation reduced delays and enhanced operational efficiency. The project also introduced a highly organized document management framework with standardized folder structures and naming conventions, making information retrieval faster and more accurate.

Central to the project’s digital strategy was the “Digital Pentagon” framework. This framework unified critical functions such as design management, quality assurance, project documentation, project management, and digital procurement. Beyond serving as a technology framework, the Digital Pentagon fostered a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement. It also supported advanced capabilities such as spend analytics, procurement classification, and data-driven decision-making.

Autodesk’s technology suite played a pivotal role in delivering measurable project outcomes. BIM-enabled 4D and 5D modeling allowed ITC to simulate project timelines and costs with greater precision. This enhanced resource planning, risk mitigation, cost estimation, and scheduling while reducing the likelihood of delays and budget overruns. Design collaboration also improved significantly as teams worked from synchronized and updated project models.

How Autodesk Transformed The ITC Green Center Phase II Building 3 Project

Autodesk Construction Cloud served as the foundation of project execution by enabling real-time collaboration, centralized project data management, and workflow automation. Its Correspondence Module improved accountability and traceability by maintaining clear records of project communications and decisions. Meanwhile, the Common Data Environment ensured consistent access to drawings, models, schedules, and documentation while minimizing duplication and version-control issues.

The project also embraced Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), shifting nearly 60% of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) fabrication to controlled factory environments. This approach improved quality, accelerated deployment, and reduced on-site complexity. A notable example was the fire pump room module, which was completed in just ten hours through prefabrication and innovative assembly techniques.

Digital documentation was another area of significant improvement. Autodesk’s Photos Module transformed site monitoring by increasing documented site images from 5,400 in Phase I to nearly 89,000 in Phase II. All images were properly tagged, searchable, and centrally stored, improving visibility, traceability, and project oversight.

The business impact of digitalization was substantial. The time required for GFC reviews was reduced from 45 days in Phase I to just 14 days in Phase II, demonstrating the effectiveness of automated workflows and centralized information management. Additionally, the project achieved a 0.9% saving on the overall budget, with a significant portion reinvested into advanced digital initiatives, including BIM, cloud collaboration, cybersecurity, and automation technologies.

Digital Transformation with Sustainable Practices

Sustainability remained a core focus throughout the project. The Green Center Phase II Building 3 project achieved USGBC LEED Platinum pre-certification and embraced zero-waste construction practices. Demolition waste was reused for foundation filling, preventing approximately 16 metric tons of CO₂ emissions. ITC also conducted India’s first Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) for construction materials and sourced over 2,000 metric tons of external waste materials to reduce environmental impact and improve resource efficiency.

Through Autodesk’s digital construction technologies, ITC has demonstrated how innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence can come together to create a future-ready construction model. The Green Center Phase II Building 3 project stands as a blueprint for the next generation of smart, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure development in India.
