VISION & PURPOSE
At Toshiba, our long-term vision is to enable a secure, scalable, and sustainable data infrastructure that supports the digital economy. Technologies like AI, IoT, and blockchain are accelerating data creation at an unprecedented scale, and storage is at the core of this transformation.
AI and IoT, in particular, are generating vast volumes of structured and unstructured data—from edge devices to hyperscale data centers. Our role is to ensure this data is reliably stored, efficiently managed, and readily accessible. Blockchain further reinforces the need for data integrity and immutability, which aligns with our focus on high-reliability storage solutions.
Ultimately, these technologies strengthen our purpose of being a trusted enabler of data-driven innovation, where Toshiba’s high-capacity HDDs form the backbone of long-term data retention and cost-optimized storage.
AGENTIC AI IMPACT
Agentic AI represents a significant evolution in how systems autonomously make decisions and optimize workflows. From our perspective, its impact will be three fold – Customer Engagement: Keeping an open ear to the Voice of the Customer in this rapidly developing environment and acting in a decisive timely manner would be critical.
Trust & Transparency: As AI systems become more autonomous, the importance of data accuracy and reliability becomes paramount. Toshiba’s storage solutions support systems which ensure that the underlying data feeding these systems remains secure and consistent.
Operational Efficiency: Internally, Agentic AI can optimize supply chain planning, predictive maintenance, and demand forecasting—enhancing responsiveness and efficiency across operations.
HUMAN-CENTRIC INNOVATION
While storage is often seen as a backend technology, its role is critical in enabling seamless and human-centric digital experiences.
We are seeing strong adoption of edge AI and connected devices, particularly in sectors like surveillance, smart cities, and industrial IoT. These applications require real-time data processing combined with reliable local and centralized storage.
Toshiba is enabling this ecosystem by delivering:
• Low-latency, high-reliability storage solutions for edge environments
• Specialized HDDs for 24/7 workloads, such as surveillance systems
• Scalable solutions that bridge edge-to-cloud data flows

Data Security: As data volumes grow, so do concerns around breaches and integrity. We do have an offering of Encryption Drives for eligible consumers.
Ethical AI Enablement: While we are not an AI algorithm provider, we play a foundational role by ensuring that the data used by AI systems is stored securely which is critical for ethical AI outcomes.
Sustainability: Energy efficiency and responsible manufacturing are key priorities. Our helium-sealed drives and advancements in power efficiency help data centers reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint.

FUTURE DIFFERENTIATION
Over the next three to five years, our differentiation will be driven by capacity innovation, cost efficiency, and ecosystem relevance.
• High-capacity innovation: Continued advancement in technologies like energy-assisted magnetic recording will enable significantly higher storage densities.
• Optimized cost per TB: As data explodes, customers will increasingly prioritize total cost of ownership, where HDDs hold a strong advantage.
• Relevance in AI and cloud ecosystems: As AI and cloud workloads scale, the need for mass data storage and archival solutions will position Toshiba as a critical enabler of next-generation infrastructure.
Additionally, we will continue strengthening our partner ecosystem and localized strategies in markets like India, ensuring we stay agile and aligned with evolving customer demands.
