Promoting Swadeshi Digital Platforms

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Vaishnaw said, “I am moving to Zoho — our own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets & presentations. I urge all to join PM Narendra Modi’s call for Swadeshi by adopting indigenous products & services.”

This move reflects the government’s push to strengthen the digital India mission, encouraging citizens and businesses to adopt domestic IT products over foreign software solutions like Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.

Zoho CEO Responds with Gratitude

The decision drew an immediate response from Zoho CEO Sridhar Vembu, who expressed gratitude and described the endorsement as a huge boost for his team. “Thank you Sir, this is a huge morale boost for our engineers who have worked hard for over two decades to build our product suite. We will make you proud and make our nation proud. Jai Hind.”

This switch by key government officials is important as it strengthens the Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) vision. It also, promotes Indian SaaS companies competing on a global scale. This would also encourage other government officials and citizens to adopt secure, indigenous technology platforms.

By switching to Zoho Docs, Zoho Sheets, and Zoho Show, Vaishnaw has set a precedent for using Indian-developed productivity tools in government and beyond, aligning with the Make in India and Digital India initiatives.
