NVIDIA faces Cyberattack impacted internal systems

As per the reports from Telegraph, US chipmaker is currently investigating a potential cyber attack on their systems. However, the company has no official information yet but confirms that there was an indictment that is currently being investigated. NVIDIA was forced to disable parts of its systems such as email systems and developer tools that might have been compromised.

We are investigating an incident. Our business and commercial activities continue uninterrupted. We are still working to evaluate the nature and scope of the event and don’t have any additional information to share at this time, says Hector Marinez, Nvidia spokesman.

The company is not yet believed to have identified a culprit, and Nvidia customers said they had not been informed of any incident, according to The Telegraph. There is no evidence linking the attack on Nvidia to retaliation by the Russians following the United States and other Western nations slapping the Kremlin with sanctions in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

As per the source, the impact of the hack was severe enough that Nvidia had to take several of its internal systems offline to prevent further intrusions, or the spread of malware throughout its network.

Security breaches, computer malware, phishing, and cyber-attacks continue to become more prevalent and sophisticated,” Nvidia wrote in a regulatory filing. “These threats are constantly evolving, making it increasingly difficult to successfully defend against them or implement adequate prevention measures. These attacks have occurred on our systems in the past and are expected to occur in the future.
