Rahul SharmaVice President, UAE & Indian Subcontinent - Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise
“Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI (GenAI) will be at the core of Alcatel-Lucent’s strategy to simplify and enhance all aspects of network operations. By integrating AI-driven capabilities into its solutions, the brand will transform how customers deploy, configure, monitor, and secure their networks, making operations more intuitive, efficient, and autonomous.” |
VISION & PURPOSE
Our purpose has been to make everything connect—people, devices, and processes—in a way that is human, secure, and sovereign. At the heart of Alcatel-Lucent’s vision is the use of AI and GenAI to transform, simplify, and optimize network operations end to end.
Emerging technologies matter to us if they serve that purpose. IoT and connected devices extend our capacity to collect data, organize information and reach further in the physical world—the building, the vehicle, the field, the city, etc. Where distributed trust and traceability genuinely add value, technologies like blockchain reinforce the integrity of the data flowing across our platform.
AGENTIC AI IMPACT
Agentic AI marks a shift from systems that answer to systems that act. For us, that is transformative because our platform already orchestrates communication across voice, video, messaging, and business applications. Agentic AI allows us to orchestrate outcomes. As an organization where voice has always been a core strength, Agentic AI is a unique opportunity to put voice at the core of human interaction with the enterprise ecosystem.
In customer and citizen engagement, an agent can take a request through voice or chat and turn it into a real-time action across the right channels and back-office systems, rather than handing the person a queue. In operational efficiency, agents absorb high-volume, repetitive interactions—multilingual, around the clock—so people are freed for the work that needs human judgement and empathy. We see this concretely with field teams: an embedded agent can manage a technician’s calls hands-free, push critical notifications during an incident, transcribe and close out a job, and trigger downstream automation through open APIs.
Trust is the foundation of it all. That is why our principle is powered by AI, guided by people — agents operate within governed, sovereign boundaries, with humans firmly in the loop, supported by our solutions like Rainbow.
HUMAN-CENTRIC INNOVATION
The most human technology is the technology you stop noticing. Edge AI and connected devices let us bring intelligence to where people actually are—the reception desk, the field van, the crisis room—instead of pulling them toward a screen.
We design around real people in real moments. A citizen reception that recognizes and routes intelligently. Field technicians who stay connected hands-free while their hands are on the job. A crisis cell that pulls live video and sensor feeds from across a city directly into a coordination session, so decision-makers see what’s happening without leaving the room. In each case, the service, the device and the AI modes are building blocks in the background; what remains is a more responsive, more authentic interaction between people.
FUTURE DIFFERENTIATION
Over the next three to five years, our differentiation will come from enabling organizations to transform data into actionable knowledge, facilitate natural interactions between humans and AI, and empower partners and customers to create intelligent communicating agents. These agents will use the same communication tools as humans, operate as digital colleagues within the organization, and leverage enterprise knowledge and systems to drive meaningful outcomes. Our differentiation will stem from being the most trusted orchestration layer connecting people, agents, devices, and business processes.
Three choices define that path. First, openness—a “bring your own AI” platform that lets each organization plug in the models and partners it trusts, rather than betting everything on one. Second, sovereignty and trust as non-negotiable defaults, which is decisive for the public sector and regulated industries. Third, verticalization—translating these capabilities into concrete, ready-to-deploy solutions for smart cities, public services, hospitality, healthcare, and beyond, often delivered hand-in-hand with our partner ecosystem.
