Rising LPG supply disruptions in several cities have pushed consumers to digital booking platforms, driving a surge in downloads of the IndianOil ONE app as households look for faster ways to book cylinders and track deliveries.
A rise in LPG refill delays across several Indian cities has led to a sharp increase in downloads of the IndianOil ONE application, which has now reached the top spot on the Google Play Store’s list of free apps.
The utility platform has overtaken the widely used AI assistant ChatGPT, reflecting a shift in consumer behaviour as households search for quicker ways to manage essential services during supply disruptions. According to the latest app rankings, IndianOil ONE currently leads the charts while ChatGPT occupies the second position.
The change highlights how demand for service-related applications can spike when access to daily essentials becomes uncertain.
LPG supply issues push users to digital platforms
The surge in downloads coincides with reports of LPG refill delays in several parts of the country. As many households depend on LPG cylinders for everyday cooking, consumers are increasingly turning to mobile applications to book refills and track delivery status.
Digital booking tools have become particularly useful during periods of supply pressure, allowing users to manage orders without visiting distributors or making repeated phone calls. The growing reliance on such platforms has helped boost the popularity of apps designed to handle essential services.
Through the IndianOil ONE app, users can place LPG refill requests, track past bookings and monitor delivery timelines. The platform also helps customers locate nearby distributors and manage service-related requests directly from their smartphones.
App offers multiple fuel and service features
Developed by Indian Oil Corporation, the application serves as a unified platform for customers to manage several fuel-related services. Apart from LPG booking, users can access their connection details, request maintenance services and update distributor preferences.
The app also includes features linked to XTRAREWARDS, allowing customers to enrol in the loyalty programme, track reward points and review transaction histories.
Meanwhile, other popular applications continue to appear in the Play Store’s top rankings. Platforms such as Meesho, Flipkart, PhonePe, and Instagram remain among the most downloaded apps.
The latest rankings demonstrate how utility-based platforms can temporarily dominate download charts when public demand shifts toward services that help manage everyday necessities like cooking fuel.
